EMBRACE TANGO WEEKEND •2nd Edition

Embrace Tango Weekend is a vibrant celebration of tango as a tool for connection, inclusion, and cultural expression. Hosted by the US Tango Foundation, this annual event brings together dancers of all backgrounds to explore the richness of tango through classes, performances, and community-building gatherings to celebrate the inclusivity and diversity of tango, recognizing it as a dance that belongs to everyone.

About the Artists

Olivia Teixeira & Fernando Lima

Olivia and Fernando are Brazilian tango teachers and artists, with more than thirty-year career that claims several esteemed titles and awards. They currently live, teach and perform in Buenos Aires. They are founders of the EsTudo Tango method, based on the tripod of musicality, Physics’ vectors and Laban’s movement factors.

They are also producers of the EsTudo Tango International Congress in Buenos Aires and co-authors of the books “Themes of Argentine Tango - Argentina and Brazil” and “Solos de Tango”. You can find many of their acclaimed courses online under the names “Estudo Tango.” Olivia and Fernando have taught in over 40 cities throughout Brazil, Argentina, US and Europe.

During high season, they teach regularly at "The Temple of Tango", Marabú, in Buenos Aires, every Sunday before el Milongón.

María Inés Camou

Dancer and teacher born in Montevideo, trained in tango, ballet, and Pilates with renowned instructors in Buenos Aires, New York, and Uruguay. She was part of prestigious companies such as the Ballet del SODRE (Uruguayan National Ballet), Ballet Internacional de Caracas, Munich National Theater Ballet, Ballet Classique de Paris, and the Ballet de Santiago de Chile. 


María Inés served for seven years as the Academic Coordinator of the Tango Program at the National School of Artistic Training of SODRE until her retirement in 2024. That same year, she was appointed Artistic Creation Director of the SODRE Schools, where she created Tango Androgino for the Tango Department and Cinderella for the Ballet Department. Following these works, she retired at the end of 2024, after 50 years of contributing to national dance.

As an educator, she was also an assistant to Julio Bocca at the National Ballet and directed the ensemble of dancers at the National School of Artistic Training of SODRE.


She has choreographed works for companies in Uruguay, Argentina, the U.S., Venezuela, and Brazil, with notable creations including Nosotros, Milonga del Ángel, Evita, Requiem para un Moscardón, as well as reinterpretations of classics such as Don Quijote and Sleeping Beauty. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Manuel Oribe Award for her career in dance (2020). Other notable choreographies include: Nosotros (Gardel), Milonga del Ángel, Fugata, Tres minutos con la Realidad, Adiós (Piazzolla), Evita (Lloyd Webber), Entre dos Abrazos (E. Chausson), Requiem para un Moscardón, and Olas (Handel – M. Benedetti).
