Sofi and Lore first met through tango in Miami in 2007, drawn together by a shared love for the dance’s deep connection and expressive power. A year later, they co-created Factory Milonga, a groundbreaking event that blended tango with Wynwood’s rising arts scene. Every week, dancers moved through a space alive with visual projections and live music, turning the milonga into a cultural phenomenon. It wasn’t just about tango—it was about creating a movement.
But life, like tango, is full of unexpected turns. When Factory Milonga ended in 2010, Sofi moved to Berlin, and Lore remained in Miami. Though separated by distance, their bond remained strong, and over the years, they continued to reunite through tango. Then, in 2023, fate brought them back together—this time, with an even bigger vision.
Later that year, they founded the US Tango Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to using tango as a tool for inclusion, empowerment, and cultural preservation. More than just a dance, they saw tango as a way to break barriers, bring communities together, and create lasting social change.
Today, the US Tango Foundation brings tango to schools, underserved communities, and people of all backgrounds, ensuring that anyone—regardless of experience—can step into the embrace and feel a sense of belonging.
Like tango itself, Sofi and Lore’s story is one of separation and reunion, challenge and triumph, always returning to the embrace.
